I don’t always read Hamlet, but when I do…
Doubt thou, the Starres are fire,
Doubt, that the Sunne doth moue:
Doubt Truth to be a Lier,
But neuer Doubt, I loue.
Doubt thou, the Starres are fire,
Doubt, that the Sunne doth moue:
Doubt Truth to be a Lier,
But neuer Doubt, I loue.
Hi. My name is Stephanie. Who are you?
..
I don’t care about what you do,
From 8-5, Mon-Fri.
..
I’m not interested in your degrees,
your certificates or qualifications.
..
It doesn’t matter to me who your mama is
or how much money your daddy makes.
[Unless your mamma makes good pumpkin pie. Then have her hit me up]
..
Who are you?
What words, when spoken,
stop your dead in your tracks?
..
What picture, when seen,
[on a 4x6 or real to life]
takes your breath away?
..
I want to know what makes your smile
till your face hurt.
..
What keeps you up at night?
What do you think about when the world around you grows quiet?
..
What makes you get up the mornings that you don’t have to set an alarm?
..
Can you tell me the last time that you felt your stomach churn?
Not because of ‘blood and guts’,
but because you were on the brink of something extraordinary.
..
Tell me, when was the last time you believed you could
do something extraordinary?
..
I don’t care where you came from.
It doesn’t matter who
made you,
raised you,
left you,
or who came and went without apologies or appreciation.
..
Who they were is insignificant
in the light of who you have become because/in spite of them.
..
What do you think about when the internet goes out?
When the wifi isn’t working?
..
Who are you passionate about?
Who in your life matters?
..
Who would you die for?
Without a second thought or extra breath.
.. .. ..
Maybe a little heavy for a Wednesday morning.
But that tells me who you are. And that’s what I want to know.
So these guys in the bible (all the coloring pages say there’s 4 of them. I guess we’re assuming this non contributing, unclean, outcast of society has 4 people willing to carry him to see Jesus. Which may be true, but since humanitarianism wasn’t trendy then, I’m not so sure.) are carrying this man on a bed to see Jesus.
As I read it, the ONLY thing I could see in this account was that it says that when Jesus saw “their faith”, he told the guy to get up and walk. It wasn’t just the paralyzed guys faith. It was the people who carried him there.
What does that say to us as Christians? What does that say about us as people with good legs? There are people in our lives depending on our faith.
That’s a lot to live up to.
That’s a lot for someone to ask of us.
But it’s exactly what changes the world.
When we realize that our faith is not just for us. It’s for others too.
But notice who and where Jesus tells him next. Jesus said, “take up your bed and go to your house”.
We are responsible for bringing people to Jesus. He does a work in their life, and then it’s up to them to get their bed and get back to their house.
Who’s depending on your faith? Who needs you to carry their bed?
Goodness. There are so many things going on inside my head.
Good things.
God things.
But there are SO many of them.
My baby niece was born a week ago today and my heart grew 12 sizes. She is her own post in herself. I have prayed for her over and over. I am so excited for the life she has in store. May He watch over her all the days of her life. And I pray she stares back at Him in amazement as she sees Him in all of His glory.
So much going on at the church. I could just sit for hours and try to get all the creative things out•of•my•head.
It’s like one big creative snowball. (And I can’t stop it!)
I have this impulse to make new things.
I’ve never had his before. And even though all of my ideas suck. I feel like I’m getting to a place where they may not suck so much soon.
It’s just a matter of time.
